This is a three-act play with an epilogue.
Joaquín is meant to be 12 years old in the beginning of the play, then in the epilogue he is going through puberty.
The play is set in a village which has been rapidly developed, with the arrival of a shopping centre with a cinema and restaurants. The family home should reflect the fact that a high value is placed on the acquisition of modern appliances and equipment, for example a DVD player and a washing machine.
