‘Flora cancels her wedding on the very night of the nuptials after she overhears her fiancé tell his best friend the closely guarded secret that her bosom is less than firm. Madness ensues; they cremate the wedding dress and suit and part forever. But, they still love each other. Piñera's writing explodes out of naturalism into absurdism as social niceties transmute into increasingly lunatic attempts to be rational.’
