Sergi Belbel (Terrassa 1963) is a leading Spanish-Catlan playwright and, as of 2005, the director of the Teatre Nacional de Catalunya. He has won a number of awards for his work, including the prestigious Marqués de Bradomín Prize in 1985 for his early work Caleidoscopis i fars d'avui (Kaleidoscopes and Lighthouses of Today). Belbel writes in Catalan and often translates his own plays into Spanish. As well as a playwright, Belbel is also an award-winning director.
